If you’re a City of Melbourne ratepayer, you can expect to receive your rates notice from early to mid-August each year, via post or email.

When you register for email rates, you will only receive your rates notices via email. Rates notices will not be posted to you. This is recommended for ratepayers with one property only. You will not be able to access archived rates notices.
When you create an account, you'll have access to our eRates portal, including access to archived and current year's rates notices. Creating an account is recommended for ratepayers with multiple assessments that can be added to their account.

Yes, but you’ll have to contact us before commencing the registration process. Please email rates@melbourne.vic.gov.au and we'll send you an invitation to sign up for this service.
Once you have received the invitation email, you can sign up at eRates using the Managing agents option.

Concessions are available to ratepayers who live at the property and hold a valid concession card.

To access past copies, you’ll need to create an eRates account.
If you’re selling your property, you’ll need to apply for a Land Information Certificate to assist with settlement.
The certificate provides provides information about valuations of the property, rates charged and any arrears or interest.

If you believe the valuation and rates notice are not in line with market value, you can lodge an objection.
